Join Us for Fabulous Food with our New Chef
Steven's new menu is now live and includes bar classics such as Seaside Fish & Chips, British Bangers & Mash and a Hearty Burger alongside some more adventurous and unusual dishes. The menu is available every day (from 12pm - 3pm and 6pm - 10.30pm Monday to Friday and all day on Saturday and Sunday).
Steven started out as an apprentice chef at Ransomes Dock Restaurant in Battersea under the experienced wing of Martin Lamb. Since then Steven has had successive achievements at The Brown Dog in Barnes and The Bee in Windlesham; including a Michelin Bib Gourmand award for offering good food at moderate prices.
Join us for fabulous casual dining with affordable prices in a feel good atmosphere, all by the river. Our private dining room with stunning river views is also available with seating of up to 10. We are the only bar in the UK to have an in-house cheese maturing room. Every week we head into the caves and cellars of our dairy farmers to extract the best cheese on offer.

The River Bar, The Ballroom & The Cellar Bar
Our River Bar has some incredible wines for you to enjoy...
Set over-looking the River Thames the Star & Garter has a fabulous selection of world beers, cocktails and boasts over 100 Sommelier selected wines! Of these we serve 40 by the glass thanks to our Enomatic Wine Preservation system. Using state-of-the-art gas preservation Enomatic prevents wine being altered by oxygen and protects it's organoleptic integrity for over three weeks.
We encourage you to try our wines by the glass before purchasing them; allowing you to explore a personal tasting journey! Our team will guide you towards a wine that suits your taste and mood whether it be night or day!
To compliment our extensive wine list, we thought it only necessary to add is a Walk-In Cheese Maturing Room - why not! We welcome you to pop by to check out our vast selection of Artisan Cheeses from Spain, France & England; our team will willingly show you around and get you to try some of our cheeses before selecting you own taylor made board! Served alongside our Charcuterie Meats, Mezze and Artisan Bread you can sit back & relax with an informal lunch or dinner served with your favourite wine... Alternatively choose from our steak & seafood menu followed by one of our mouth watering cheese boards.
Large & small bookings are all welcome in the bar. Many people choose to celebrate birthdays, engagements and leaving parties, however many come along to simply celebrate the weekend! Our resident DJ is guaranteed to get you into the party spirit playing every Friday & Saturday night until 1am.
The Ballroom
This beautiful Victorian Ballroom is on the first floor of the Star & Garter and is only available for private events. The room is awash with natural daylight and is a popular Wedding, Conference, Christening and Private Party venue. It's Victorian Elegance has been combined with contemporary New York design to lift this venue into a new era. With a Grand Staircase leading up to this room it is guaranteed to take your & your guests breath away.
The Cellar Bar
As the name suggests this room is in the basement of the Star & Garter and caters for more informal events & parties. This room is used for birthday parties, quiz nights and mid week works drinks. Withs its own bar, dance floor & comfy sofas this room is ever popular and great for a party.
Weddings
Our unique river location and contemporary renaissance design offer an exquisite setting for Weddings, we are fully licensed for Civil Ceremonies and can host Wedding Breakfasts for up to 120 guests.
